District Merit Badge Days

District Merit Badge Days are hosted by several districts and are an opportunity for Scouts in troops or crews to work on several merit badges. Classes are taught by adults with experience in the field. The following districts typically hold merit badge events:
 

Lone Star Flight Museum Overnights and Aviation Merit Badge

The Lone Star Flight Museum, located at the entrance to Ellington Airport, is home to over two dozen flightworthy aircraft including historic WWII era bombers and fighters, the Flight Academy explaining the science of flight, a bay of flight simulators and the Mooney Hangar for preflight inspections, and the history of aviation in the Heritage Gallery. Scouts can sign up for several merit badge workshops such as Aviation, Electronics, Weather, and American Heritage. The Aviation Merit Badge is also available for troops during an overnight, and Cub Scout packs can do fun flying activities and spend the night under the wings of a warbird. For questions, email scouts@lonestarflight.org.

HMNS Scout Classes

The Houston Museum of Natural Science offers a variety of classes and programs for Scouts.

• Merit badge to adventure classes are offered throughout the school year and may be taken in-person or virtually.
• In-person classes include admission to all permanent exhibits for the Scout and one chaperone.
• Summer classes are offered as 5-day, two-day or one-day classes for Scouts BSA and 5-day classes for Cub Scouts and Webelos Scouts. 
• Badges on Demand are for dens or troops who want to schedule a private class to work on an adventure or merit badge.
• Bring the museum to a pack or troop meeting with Outreach programs.
• Packs can Spend the Night at the museum!
• STEM Nova Day is held every October!

Rosenberg Railroad Museum

The Rosenberg Railroad Museum maintains exhibits relating to local railroad history, has a mission of education and preservation of Fort Bend County's rich railroad history. The museum is offering merit badge classes (Signs, Signals and Codes, Railroading, First Aid, and Citizenship in the World). The cost is $40 per Scout and includes parent admission to the museum. Presentations are scheduled on select Saturdays during the school year from 10 am to 1 pm (except First Aid is from 10 am to 2 pm).  During the summer, the classes are on select Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays from 10 to 1pm. October 8 & December 3, 2022

The Sam Houston Area Council Advancement Committee offers merit badge classes taught by career professionals. The classes are for any registered Scout in a troop, crew, or ship.

The merit badges are not give away merit badges but are selected for Scouts to not only earn a merit badge but learn from career professionals so that they can explore potential career opportunities. 

The merit badge classes with the career professionals are interactive and require active participation by each Scout. Merit badge class sizes will be limited so that each Scout will have the opportunity to learn about the career profession while working on merit badge requirements. Scouts can sign up for the Health Care Professions, Law or Surveying Merit Badge classes.

The Houston Museum of Natural Science is hosting STEM events in October.

STEM Nova day will be held on October 8th for all Scouts and their families. The STEM Nova Overnight for Webelos Scouts and Cub Scouts is being held on October 7th.

Watch the Space Cowboys take on the Salt Lake Bees!  Scouts and leaders can participate in a pre-game parade on the field on the field that is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and always exciting. After the game, Scouts can sit on the field and watch a movie on the Texas-sized scoreboard. All Scouts will receive our commemorative Scout Night patch! Ticket price options are $17 for group-rate tickets or $23 for a ticket and food voucher that covers a hot dog, chips, and a 16-ounce fountain drink. To purchase tickets in groups of 10 or more or to ensure that groups are sitting together, contact Tyler Tumbelson. Parking passes are available at a discounted rate if purchased in advance, or $10 online on the day of the game or at the gates. The Sugar Land Space Cowboys are a Minor League Baseball team of the Pacific Coast League and the Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros Major League Baseball club. They are located in Sugar Land, Texas, part of the Greater Houston metropolitan area, and play their home games at Constellation Field.
